Spring Into Action! Where Inspiration Meets Opportunity...
It was a cold and icy day, but Marriotts Ridge High School and Mount View Middle School successfully hosted the first MRHS Ecofest on February 11, 2012. Families from the two host schools and five other middle and elementary schools were invited to attend. Children played carnival games with an environmental theme, and completed craft projects using recycled materials. More than twenty local organizations such as Howard County Conservancy, Howard County Bureau of Environmental Services and the Robinson Nature Center displayed boards, videos and examples of green practices educating people about the environment and how to get involved. Participants had the opportunity to join a CSA, buy natural products, and swap their books for new reading materials. The MRHS Fashion Club put on a show of original fashions created with 100% recycled materials. At the end, families were asked to fill out surveys indicating how they intended to change their habits.!"
