Save Electricity and Save The Coral Reefs!
One of the causes of coral reef bleaching is excessive amounts of energy being used. When you turn on your lights, the amount of energy used contributes to global warming. Global warming increases the ocean temperature. Coral reefs cannot survive in high temperatures resulting in coral reef bleaching. What is Bleaching? Bleaching is when the algae leaves the coral reefs. Algae is really important because it cements the coral together. When the algae leaves the coral, the coral is stressed and becomes unhealthy. Eventually, the coral becomes bleached and turns white as it starts to die. Here are some ways you can remind your teacher to conserve energy and save the coral reefs. Help Your Teachers Turn off the Lights: 1. Turn off the lights when your class leaves the classroom, and at the end of the day. 2. Remind your teacher to turn off the projector when it is not in use. 3. Remind your teacher to turn off the filter at the end of the day. |
